Red-hot world number nine Belinda Bencic beat Liudmila Samsonova from a set down to win the Abu Dhabi Open on Sunday and she motored past Viktoria Tomova here on Tuesday to maintain an intensity that could see her near-unstoppable. The 25-year-old already has two titles this season after also claiming Adelaide 2 before the Australian Open and only Melbourne champion Aryna Sabalenka and world number one Iga Swiatek have beaten her this season so far. Former world number one Victoria Azarenka has also looked in great shape this year, with her incredible ruin to the semi-finals at the Australian Open suggesting she has more titles in her this season. The 33-year-old conceded just two games to Ipek Oz on Monday but, like Bencic, she will have to prepare for a serious step-up in quality here. Azarenka has yet to lose to the Swiss, even conceded a set, in a 2-0 head-to-head record but Bencic is currently enjoying some of the form of her career.
