THE PREDICTION
World number 55 Andy Murray finished runner-up to Daniil Medvedev at the Qatar Open in another exciting campaign that saw four more deciding set wins. The 35-year-old will be desperate to see a straight-set result go his way after last managing the feat in mid-October but this looks a useful opener against 23-year-ols Tomas Martin Etcheverry for a few reasons. Etcheverry comes into Indian Wells at a career-high ATP world ranking of 63rd after finishing runner-up to Nicolas Jarry at the Chile Open last weekend but the transition from clay to hardcourts and having to recalibrate from the highs and lows of losing a first tour final should prove too much to handle. Murray took a much-needed break last week to recharge after another encouraging campaign and he can be backed to come through outright at least here if not, finally, in two.
