THE PREDICTION

Defending champion Taylor Fritz put in another assured performance on Tuesday to beat Marton Fucsovics in straight sets. The world number five is through to a fourth-successive quarter-final on tour after winning the Delray Beach Open last month and making the semi-finals in Dallas and Acapulco. World number 13 Jannik Sinner is yet to drop a set this campaign after a straightforward victory over Stan Wawrinka on Tuesday, who looked exhausted after his efforts in beating Holger Rune less than 24 hours before. 21-year-old Sinner also won an ATP title in February at the Montpellier Open and he finished runner-up to Daniil Medvedev at the Rotterdam Open a week later. Fritz beat Sinner here in straight sets two years ago in the delayed October edition at Indian Wells but this second encounter should come a lot closer. Back Fritz to edge things outright with home advantage behind him but it would not be a surprise to see Sinner rise to the occasion.
