THE PREDICTION

26-year-old Alejandro Tabilo is enjoying the form of his career so far this season, bringing a career-high ATP world ranking of 39th into Indian Wells after winning his maiden ATP title at the Auckland Classic before finishing runner-up to Sebastian Baez last time out in Santiago. The Chilean has nothing to lose in this blockbuster match against US number one Taylor Fritz here on Saturday and that makes him dangerous to the home favourite, who has struggled to maintain his excellent best form over the past few seasons. World number 12 Fritz, also 26, successfully defended his Delray Beach Open title last month but a three-set defeat to Matteo Arnaldi last week in Acapulco is proof of his current fragility. The American won his most prestigious of eight career titles here in 2022 but he is currently far from that level to make this a really tricky call. The sensible option is backing Fritz to win outright but you could consider a one-off on Tabilo to snatch a set.

TIP: TAYLOR FRITZ TO WIN
