Leylah Fernandez maintained her flawless hardcourt record against Mirra Andreeva to dump the top seed out in Singapore.

The Canadian registered a 6-2 7-5 win over the Russian teenager to make it three out of three when they have met on the surface.

The sixth seed will now tackle Maja Chwalinska after the Pole continued her best run since the French Open with 6-2 6-2 rout of fourth seed Elise Mertens.

This will be their first meeting and it is perhaps surprising that Maja will be the favourite as the higher-ranked of the two players.

It’s a tricky call given how well both have been playing and while we lean towards Leylah, Chwalinska has shown several times this week that she’s in the sort of form that almost saw her pull off a minor miracle at Roland-Garros.
