Wigan Warriors have been nigh-on unstoppable across the second half of the season and are still yet to lose a game since their Challenge Cup final triumph over Hull KR. Since that win, Matt Peet’s side have racked up 15 straight wins to pip Leeds Rhinos to the League Leaders Shield and are performing at an outstanding level across the entire field. They are clearly determined to cap off a year to remember with the big prize, a fitting tribute to the late Sir Billy Boston.
Wakefield Trinity though, are out to book a spot at Old Trafford for themselves. Since losing to the Warriors back in August, Daryl Powell’s men have won their last four including victory over Leigh Leopards to set up this semi-final clash. But this Wigan team are an absolute juggernaut right now and have to be favoured, especially with home advantage in their favour.
One of the plethora of formidable attacking options at Peet’s disposal, Zach Eckersley racked up 27 tries across the regular season and it would be a big surprise if he didn’t add to his tally here in what should end with Wigan winning.
