25-year-old Tallon Griekspoor could break the top 50 next Monday when the new ATP rankings are announced if he claims one more win in Halle. The current world number 61 beat Alex Molcan in straight sets after an incredibly tight 12-10 opening tiebreak on Tuesday, backing up a decent showing at the Libema Open last week where he lost to Felix Auger-Aliassime at this stage. World number 20 Roberto Bautista Agut returned from a small spell with injury to win his first match since early May, with Marton Fucsovics having to retire from the second set of their first round clash on Tuesday. 34-year-old RBA has peaked and troughed somewhat this season but he is a superb all-courter with a clear pedigree on grass after a memorable run to the semi-finals of Wimbledon in 2019. Griekspoor is the kind of player well capable of taking every set down to the wire but backing Bautista Agut outright here, or to take at least a set inside an accumulator, seems reasonable in this first meeting.
