22-year-old Rinky Hijikata should break the top 70 on tour for the first time after an impressive straight sets victory over Laslo Djere on Thursday. The Aussie enjoyed a transformative first run to the second week of a Grand Slam at the US Open last month, stunning the likes of Marton Fucsovics and Zhizhen Zhang before defeat in three sets to Frances Tiafoe, and he should not be underestimated on a big stage. World number six Stefanos Tsitsipas has lost four of his last six matches since lifting the Los Cabos Open in August and it looks as if he has split from coach Mark Philippoussis once again after a brief re-acquaintance. The 25-year-old finished runner-p to Novak Djokovic at the Australian Open back in January but even then he was far from the level he previously found in his formative years and it will be interesting to see how he fares in Shanghai.
Tsitsipas beat Hijikata comfortably en-route to that final in Melbourne and despite his recent foibles this looks like a comfortable match-up for the Greek. Take Tsitsipas to win in two.
