THE PREDICTION

This should be a thrilling ninth edition of a burgeoning rivalry on the ATP tour between Stefanos Tsitsipas and Hubert Hurkacz. World number six Tsitsipas leads the Pole 6-2 in their head-to-head record but world number 10 claimed their most recent encounter on his way to last season’s Miami Open title. All eight of their previous meetings have come on hardcourts, with Tsitsipas leading 4-0 in indoor conditions, but the Pole could have a competitive edge on Friday after coming through the tougher portion of the draw. 24-year-old Tsitsipas struggled past Luca Nardi via two tiebreaks on Wednesday whilst Hurkacz took out the home favourite Alexander Bublik in impressive fashion on Thursday. Notably, seven of their eight meetings have seen at least a set go each way and that makes backing Tsitsipas to win at least one the sensible move given his record and a total of three sets the reasonable risk.
