THE PREDICTION

World number five Stefanos Tsitsipas lost from a set up to Borna Coric at the Vienna Open last week but the Greek has already secured ATP Finals qualification after finishing runner-up to Novak Djokovic and Holger Rune at back-to-back tournaments in Astana and Stockholm last month. The 24-year-old’s once free-flowing game has become remarkably brittle over the last 12 months but he still possesses plenty of weapons and there is ample time to rediscover his previous confidence on court. This looks a kind opener for the Greek against Dan Evans, who has lost all three of their previous meetings in straight sets. World number 27 Evans has found some excellent late-season form of his own on tour, memorably making the semi-finals of the Canada Masters back in August to match his career-best run at a Masters event. Tsitsipas ended the Brit’s other semi-final run at last season’s Monte-Carlo to take their head-to-head record up to 3-0 and he can be backed to come through outright here. If Evans is ever going to beat the Greek, though, now is the time.
