THE PREDICTION

22-year-old Jannik Sinner set a new career-high ATP world ranking of second after coasting through to his second Masters title at the Miami Open three weeks ago, conceding just seven games in his last two matches against Daniil Medvedev and Grigor Dimitrov. The Italian has lost just once this season, to Carlos Alcaraz in the semi-finals at Indian Wells this time last month, but expectations of another week of plain sailing should be limited as he comes in cold on clay to play a very dangerous foe.

World number 27 Sebastian Korda won his maiden ATP title on clay at the Parma Open in 2021 and he conceded just three games to 2022 runner-up Alejandro Davidovich Fokina on Tuesday to look dialled-in. The American has struggled to stay fit long enough to generate any sort of momentum in recent seasons but it would be a real surprise to see him fail to reach the top five of the sport at some point over the next few seasons as he possesses all of the tools required. Sinner and Korda share a finely-poised 1-1 head-to-head record that makes taking the Italian to edge through the suitably cautious move.

TIP: JANNIK SINNER TO WIN
