Denis Shapovalov will aim to continue his excellent recent form in Tokyo.

The Canadian arrives on the back of a semi-final run in Chengdu and meets wildcard Sho Shimabukuro for the first official time. 

The pair did battle in Shanghai qualifying with the Japanese underdog retiring at 6-4 1-3 last year. That will give the home hope reason for optimism as he looks to deliver in his own backyard.
