22-year-old Luciano Darderi enjoyed a fabulous run to his maiden ATP title at the Cordoba Open last week, beating defending champion Sebastian Baez in the semi-finals. The Italian had lost to Baez in Cordoba last year in his second ever tour-level match and after failing to make a dent on the tour since it was a considerable shock to see him back with a vengeance last week, levelling their head-to-head 1-1 before an assured performance in the final. World number 30 Baez will be desperate to avenge that defeat in his native Buenos Aires but both players have started strong, with Baez easing past Bernabe Zapata Miralles and Darderi making it six wins on the spin by ousting Mariano Navone. Back Darderi to earn at least a set on his current trajectory or consider taking this match to see three sets, with Baez likely to play better this time around.
