THE PREDICTION

17th seed Elena Rybakina is yet to drop a set this week with two impressive results over grass-court lover Coco Vandeweghe and former world number four Bianca Andreescu. The big-serving Kazakh has all the tools to excel on grass but after setting a career-high WTA world ranking of 12th at the start of this season it has taken her a fair few months to regain that sort of level. Not to be outdone, 19-year-old Qinwen Zheng has also beaten a US Open champion this week, Sloane Stephens, in the first round and the exciting Chinese prospect is also yet to drop a set. A first meeting between two contrasting styles here is likely to produce an eye-catching match but much of it rests on how well 23-year-old Rybakina serves. The world number 23 has so far failed to exceed 53% first serve percentage and she could struggle to put away Zheng’s rapid court coverage if she does not improve on that.

Three of their combined eight sets so far have seen tiebreaks and that could be a useful addition to taking Rybakina to win at least a set as the likelier of two very capable winners.
