PETRA MARTIC VS KRISTINA MLADENOVIC PREDICTION
Former world number 10 Kristina Mladenovic takes on former number 14 Petra Martic in a real throwback match on Tuesday. 31-year-old Mladenovic was handed a wildcard to make her first 16th appearance at her home Grand Slam but she has lost in the first round four out of six times since reaching the quarter-finals here back in 2017.
33-year-old Martic is far better than her current deflated ranking of 81st suggests but the Croat has endured a tough 2024 so far. Martic also reached the quarter-finals here in 2019 to set her best major run but she brings a five-match losing streak into the draw to make this match well worth leaving alone. Sets could go both ways if Mladenovic feels the love on Tuesday but Martic should reach the second round eventually.
