World number 59 Xiyu Wang has won just one of her six matches so far this season but it was not long ago that she was upsetting the likes of Barbora Krejcikova and Maria Sakkari. This looks a tough opener for the 21-year-old, with world number 143 Olga Danilovic coming through two three-set qualifying wins over good players to make the Indian Wells main draw. That sort of momentum will be a tough force to stop but Danilovic is still seeking her first tour-level win since finishing runner-up to Petra Martic at the Ladies Open Lausanne last July. A first meeting between the two looks likely to need a decider with little recent form between the two and so the suitably cautious approach looks like taking Xiyu Wang to earn at least one of them.
