THE PREDICTION
This is an interesting repeat of last season’s Qatar Open final, with world number 22 Nikoloz Basilashvili defending his title here after beating Roberto Bautista Agut in straight sets last season. The 29-year-old took out Arthur Rinderknech in straight sets on Friday to back-up a rugged week of victories against some tough foes but world number 16 Bautista Agut has certainly fended off the tougher competition. The 33-year-old totally dismissed Andy Murray and Alejandro Davidovich Fokina this campaign before a comeback victory against Karen Khachanov in the semi-finals provided a useful warning ahead of this rematch. RBA leads this head-to-head record 3-2 but Basilashvili has won both of their meetings on a hard court. The Georgian could well blast through his opponent for a second year running here but Bautista Agut to take at least a set as the likelier champion this time around feels the most sensible pick here.
