NICOLAS MORENO DE ALBORAN VS BRANDON NAKASHIMA PREDICTION
World number 130 Nicolas Moreno De Alboran received the USTA nomination wildcard at Roland-Garros after an impressive clay swing so far. With a run to the quarter-finals of the Marrakech Open last month seeing him edged out in three sets by eventual runner-up Roberto Carballes Baena.
The 26-year-old lost to Tomas Machac in the last 16 at the Geneva Open this week to look ready for a competitive debut in Paris and he stands a solid chance at an upset over Brandon Nakashima as the younger American continues to search for his best form.
World number 84 Nakashima is capable of much better tennis than his deflated ranking suggests but it has been a dire past few seasons since ending 2022 as the Next Gen champion. Two wins in Barcelona and some decent runs at Challenger level suggest he could be on the mend but sets should go both ways in this opener, with five not out of the question. Back Moreno De Alboran to earn at least a set on his debut.
