World number 87 Nicolas Jarry came back from a set down to beat Jaume Munar on Saturday and he will be backed to the hilt in this Chile Open final as a Santiago native. The 27-year-old claimed his maiden ATP title at the Bastad Open back in 2019 but after several years in the wilderness this South American clay swing has seen him slice his world ranking in half and he could rise as high as world number 52 with victory here. World number 76 Tomas Martin Etcheverry is another surprising finalist in Santiago and the Argentine has nothing to lose in this scenario as he faces Jarry and the entire crowd on his ATP final debut. The 23-year-old stunned compatriots Sebastian Baez and Francisco Cerundolo this week to take a deserved place in the Chile Open final and he beat Jarry in their only previous encounter at last season’s Cordoba Open, albeit when the home advantage was with him.
