THE PREDICTION
World number 42 Jack Draper will be desperately seeking a deep run here in Miami after making his Masters debut here three years ago before having to retire early through heat exhaustion. The 22-year-old put in an excellent display to beat Taro Daniel handily in straight sets on Wednesday but his greatest opponent this season has been his intermittent setbacks with injuries and health complaints. A huge run to the semi-finals of the Mexican Open earlier this month saw him pull up ill in the third set against eventual champion Alex de Minaur to suggest he is playing at a top 30 level at least when fit but this will be a steep test against world number 23 Nicolas Jarry. The Chilean upset Carlos Alcaraz to reach the Argentina Open final last month but he has claimed just one win since finishing runner-up to Facundo Diaz Acosta there, taking a two-match losing streak into this first meeting with Draper. Expect long and fierce rallies between two hard-hitters but back in-form Draper to win at least a set in a match likely to need a decider.
