THE PREDICTION

World number 23 Tommy Paul beat Emilio Gomez in straight sets on Tuesday in a strong reaction to his shock defeat to Radu Albot at the Delray Beach Open last month. The 25-year-old totally changed the course of his career with an incredible run to the semi-finals at the Australian Open in January but he did enjoy a reasonably kind draw at times and it will be fascinating to see what else he can achieve this season. 25-year-old Michael Mmoh also enjoyed a transformative Australian Open as he stunned Alexander Zverev in four sets on a run to the third round. A run to the quarter-finals in Delray Beach last month saw him set a career-high ATP world ranking of 82nd and a straight sets victory over Marcos Giron on Tuesday here in Acapulco should see him break that once again. Paul looks the reasonable favourite to come through this first meeting between the two but three sets would not be a surprise. Back Paul to win in straight sets on its own or outright inside an accumulator.
