MARIA SAKKARI VS VARVARA GRACHEVA PREDICTION
World number seven Maria Sakkari reached the semi-finals of Roland-Garros back in 2021, just missing out to eventual champion Barbora Krejcikova before later doing the same in the last four to Emma Raducanu at the US Open. The 28-year-old has endured a relatively tough time over the past few seasons, despite winning her second WTA title at the Guadalajara Masters late last year, but she has been a rejuvenated force under new coach David Witt in recent months to look a serious threat this fortnight.
23-year- old Varvara Gracheva came close to stunning Aryna Sabalenka at Wimbledon last summer, setting a career-high WTA world ranking of 39th late last season, but she has suffered a really poor start to 2024 to fall back as far as 82nd. Sakkari beat the Frenchwoman in straight sets at the Italian Open earlier this month, taking a spotless 2-0 lead in their head-to-head, and she can be backed to do the same here.
