THE PREDICTION

This looks set to be a proper thriller on Friday between former world number four Bianca Andreescu and current number 10 Maria Sakkari, with both of their previous encounters going to three sets and featuring two tiebreaks apiece in a finely-poised 1-1 head-to-head. World number 31 Andreescu earned some bragging rights over fellow former US Open champion Emma Raducanu in a tight three-setter on Wednesday to get her Miami campaign underway and she may just-about be the favourite here with a win in her legs as Sakkari comes in from a disappointing loss to Aryna Sabalenka in the semi-finals of Indian Wells. Andreescu beat Sakkari in three sets in the semi-finals here two years ago before an injury saw her have to concede the final to Ash Barty and after another few years of injury setbacks she looks to be finally coming into form. Four of Sakkari’s five matches at Indian Wells went to three sets and that looks an excellent option here considering their previous record. Back the match to see three sets and then consider adding at least a tiebreak.
