34-year-old Evgeniya Rodina grabbed her most impressive victory since her second comeback from retirement with a straight-sets win over Bernarda Pera on Tuesday. The Russian is currently ranked outside the top 300 on tour but she is clearly capable of top 100 tennis at least as a former world number 67 and this makes her something of an anomaly on tour right now. This match is best left out of an accumulator, particularly as 20th seed Magda Linette has struggled to live up to her new career-high WTA world ranking of 21st since her incredible run to the semi-finals of the Australian Open. The 31-year-old takes a three-match losing streak into this contest but she leads Rodina 2-0 on their head-to-head record after two results over the Russian in 2018 to suggest she still holds the upper hand.
