World number 77 Emma Raducanu played well in a straight-sets victory over Yanina Wickmayer on Thursday to reach the third quarter-final of her season. The 19-year-old has been plagued by injuries in her first full season on tour as well as the weight of becoming an overnight sensation after her miraculous US Open victory last September but runs like this are hugely encouraging now her WTA ranking is more reflective of her year’s work as a whole.
