Two-time Australian Open champion Victoria Azarenka conceded just one game to Nadia Podoroska on Wednesday, backing up a first round victory over 2020 champion Sofia Kenin. The 33-year-old reached the round of 16 here last season and matched that at the US Open, where she has finished runner-up on three occasions and as recently as 2019. World number 13 Madison keys made the semi-finals here last season before defeat to eventual champion Ash Barty and she has also finished runner-up at the US Open – to Sloane Stephens in 2017. The 27-year-old looked better in her second round win over Xinyu Wang than her three-set opener with Anna Blinkova but she looks the slightest underdog this likely thriller considering Azarenka leads their head-to-head 3-0. A three-set victory for Azarenka as recently as October at the Guadalajara Masters suggests the Belarussian knows the route to win against Keys, so back her to earn at least a set as the likelier of two very capable winners.
