World number 20 Madison Keys enjoyed an excellent season overall last year, winning her seventh WTA title at the Eastbourne International in June before runs to the quarter-finals at Wimbledon and semi-finals at the US Open, but she has not played since losing both group games at the WTA Elite Trophy last October. The 29-year-old will be experienced enough to hit the ground running here at Indian Wells but she faces an up-and-coming fellow American who will pull some focus as the severe underdog here and it is hard to quantify her match fitness. 22-year-old Hailey Baptiste beat fellow youngster Robin Montgomery in three sets on Thursday to build on an impressive qualifying run and she will break inside the top 100 for her efforts so far. Keys should eventually edge through this contest in what could be quite a choppy, nerve-ridden affair for both players but consider backing Baptiste to earn at least a set to leave the result up to chance. Leave this match out of an accumulator.
