THE PREDICTION
World number 34 Yoshihito Nishioka did well to weather a storm against Oscar Otte on Monday, winning the first and third sets either side of a bagel. The 27-year-old ended last season in the form of his career, culminating in taking a second career ATP title at the Korea Open, and his run to the round of 16 at the Australian Open last month was exceptional until a fair capitulation at the hands of Karen Khachanov. Nishioka beat Mackenzie McDonald in straight sets in the third round back in Melbourne to take a commanding 4-1 lead in their head-to-head but McDonald was hampered by an injury suffered in his career-best victory over Rafael Nadal, also injured, in the round before. World number 56 McDonald conceded just four games to Taro Daniel on Tuesday to suggest he has recovered well but this will, remarkably, be the third meeting this year between these two platers and Nishioka has won both without dropping a set.
