THE PREDICTION

20-year-old Lorenzo Musetti came into the Chile Open at a career-high ATP world ranking of 18th after claiming his first two ATP titles last season at the Hamburg Open and later on a hardcourt at the Napoli Cup. However, the Italian has failed to win back-to-back matches since enjoying an easy time as his nation’s second option at the United Cup back in January, with an injury suffered in the final against Frances Tiafoe setting him back at least a month. A first meeting with world number 66 Jaume Munar is likely to go his way but the top seed is yet to play in Santiago after receiving a bye to the round of 16 and that looks less than helpful right now. Munar overcame Alejandro Tabilo in three sets, oddly via a bagel and a deciding tiebreak, to suggest this match will need a decider of its own. Back Musetti to edge things outright but consider just taking the Italian to earn at least a set inside an accumulator.
