THE PREDICTION
This is the third meeting between Lin Zhu and Lesia Tsurenko this season with a win apiece so far. 29-year-old Lin beat the Ukrainian to lift her maiden WTA title at the Hua Hin Championships back in February but Tsurenko made it 2-1 in their head-to-head with revenge at Indian Wells. World number 33 Lin Zhu comes into Beijing as the Chinese number two and she will likely thrive under the partisan support, particularly as she brings strong form from her recent run to the Japan Women’s Open final two weeks ago. 34-year-old Tsurenko has not played since a second round exit at the US Open in late August but she is well capable of hitting the ground running as one of the more erratic but capable performers on tour over the past two years. Back Lin Zhu to win at least a set inside an accumulator or to scrape it outright on its own.
