World number 14 Belinda Bencic is the second seed in Tallinn and she played like it on Monday, conceding just two games to Elena Malygina. The 25-year-old will have been pleased with an easy win after seeing each of her last five matches go to five sets, including a tough defeat to Karolina Pliskova in the third round of the US Open. World number 145 Katie Boulter is better than her current WTA ranking suggests and she proved that this summer by twice beating Pliskova on grass at the Eastbourne International and Wimbledon. The 26-year-old had not won a match since reaching the third round at SW19 but a straight-sets victory over Jaqueline Cristian on Monday was an impressive start to her campaign here and she enjoys her tennis against top players. Bencic should have too many weapons to lose here but backing the Swiss to win outright looks the suitably sensible option in this first meeting between the two.
