World number 35 Sebastian Baez claimed his second ATP title at the Cordoba Open earlier this month but he lost his wining streak in the first round of the Argentina Open last week. The 22-year-old looked in better shape on Wednesday, ousting Thomasz Bellucci in straight sets, but he will need his best level to beat in-form Juan Pablo Varillas as the Peruvian continues to surprise himself on tour. 27-year-old Varillas beat Dominic Thiem and Lorenzo Musetti last week in Buenos Aires before a tight straight-sets defeat to eventual runner-up Cam Norrie and he has looked a changed player on court since taking Alexander Zverev to five sets at the Australian Open last month. Baez remains the slight favourite to come through here after beating Varillas in straight sets at the Chile Open almost a year ago but the Peruvian should be a different test this time around. Back Varillas to earn at least a set but leave this tricky match out of an accumulator.
