THE PREDICTION

World number four Jessica Pegula came back from a set down to avoid a real scare against Claire Liu on Friday, although a third-set bagel suggests she will be much improved here. The top seed is the firm favourite to lift her fourth WTA title here on Sunday and she would be a very popular champion of half-Korean descent. World number 83 Yanina Wickmayer is through to a second semi-final on tour in three months after an assured victory over Polina Kudermetova on Friday, matching her run to the last four at the Poland Open in late July. A defeat to eventual champion Iga Swiatek looks to be the writing on the wall here, though, with Pegula well capable of blasting through this first meeting in straight sets.
