THE PREDICTION
World number 14 Jannik Sinner made it six wins on the spin with an assured performance against Stan Wawrinka on Friday, backing-up a statement result over Stefanos Tsitsipas in the round of 16. The 21-year-old lost to Tsitsipas in the last 16 of the Australian Open in five sets but he has since gone unbeaten to lift his seventh ATP title at last week’s Montpellier Open. 26-year-old Tallon Griekspoor is also enjoying an excellent 2023 so far having lost just once this year, to Tsitsipas in the round before Sinner back in Melbourne. The Dutchman claimed his maiden ATP title at the Maharashta Open at the start of the year and he has so far impressed on home soil in Rotterdam, with a comeback victory over Alexander Zverev the stand-out result. Griekspoor will receive a partisan backing here as the Netherlands desperately crave a home star to emerge on tour but ice-cold Jannik Sinner is one of the more unflappable opponents to face. Back the Italian to win outright, though, with Griekspoor playing well enough to warrant caution.
