This should be the match of the day in Rotterdam between former world number three Stan Wawrinka and Jannik Sinner, who stunned Stefanos Tsitsipas in straight sets on Thursday to make a big statement of intent. 21-year-old Sinner lost to Tsitsipas in five sets in the round of 16 at the Australian Open last month and he has since added a seventh ATP title to his name after beating Maxime Cressy handily in the Montpellier final on Sunday. A five-match winning streak in conditions that suit him is a compelling case for the Italian here but 37-year-old Wawrinka is yet to drop a set this week after two great results over Alexander Bublik and Richard Gasquet. The Swiss beat Sinner in straight sets in their only previous indoors encounter at the European Open back in 2019 but Sinner leads their head-to-head record 2-1 as things stand, winning their most recent match in four sets at Wimbledon last summer. Back the Italian to win outright here with Wawrinka playing well enough to warrant caution.
