THE PREDICTION
Defending champion Jannik Sinner is the top seed this week in Rotterdam after setting a new career-high ATP world ranking of fourth following his remarkable run to a maiden Grand Slam title at the Australian Open. The 22-year-old has the world at his feet after beating Novak Djokovic in the semi-finals in Melbourne, and for a third time in as many months, and he will be eager to capitalise on the remaining hardcourt swing after bursting into this form at the start of it last August. A straight-sets opener over home hopeful Botic van de Zandschulp was an encouraging return to the tour and he leads former world number six Gael Monfils 4-1 in their head-to-head, including the Sofia Open final in 2021 when he picked up his first ever title, to look ready to roll through to the quarter-finals. 37-year-old Monfils became the latest player to put an out-of-sorts Denis Shapovalov away but the Frenchman has struggled to match the very best players on tour for some time. Back Sinner to win in straight sets.
TIP: JANNIK SINNER TO WIN 2-0
