World number 72 Ilya Ivashka possesses a powerful game that can be hard to get past when he finds his rhythm and he proved that at the US Open last September in a huge run to the round if 16 that took Jannik Sinner five sets to eventually halt. The Belarussian won his only ATP title at the Winston-Salem Open in 2021 and he set a career-high of 40th last season but 2022 was generally a year of poor form, aside from New York, and his last tour win came in Gijon back in October. World number 34 Botic van de Zandschulp has been one of the more consistent performers at Grand Slams over the last few seasons, with his career-best run to the quarter-finals of the US Open in 2021 seeing him the only man to take a set from eventual champion Daniil Medvedev. The Dutchman made the third round here last season before losing to Medvedev, this time eventual runner-up, once again but after some poorer form later last season he brings a 2-1 record into Melbourne for an encouraging start to 2023.
