THE PREDICTION
This quarter-final fixture is all about match-ups as world number one Iga Swiatek takes on former number one Victoria Azarenka, with the Pole the favourite to go through. It could have been a wholly different story had Jelena Ostapenko, who leads Swiatek 4-0 in their hugely intriguing head-to-head, made it through her round of 16 clash with Azarenka but the Latvian lost comfortably on Wednesday, for the third time this season and a remarkable five in a row to the Belarussian. Swiatek is yet to drop a set this week and she looks the relatively solid favourite to defend back-to-back titles here in Doha if she can outpace Elena Rybakina at the other side of the draw, although the rise of Naomi Osaka could see a first proper meeting between the two go all the way. Swiatek leads Azarenka 2-1 having won each of their last two encounters and she can be backed to do make that three on the spin here, despite Azarenka’s solid run so far.
TIP: IGA SWIATEK TO WIN
