THE PREDICTION

This could be the match of the day on Monday if 2019 Indian Wells champion Bianca Andreescu and defending champion Iga Swiatek play their best tennis at the same time. World number one Swiatek won 11 games in a row against Claire Liu before her American opponent managed to pull one back in the second set of a blistering match and is Swiatek finds that form again there is realistically little chance for Andreescu, who is struggling to maintain her world-class best long enough to beat the best at this moment in time. The former world number four came back from a set down to beat Peyton Stearns on Saturday but she will not have the time to start shakily here. As we have seen with Barbora Krejcikova and Elena Rybakina in recent months, the first set is absolutely key in beating Iga Swiatek. If you can rock the Pole early she sometimes struggles, perhaps due to the fact that she has so often won easily these past few seasons. The winner of the first set wins the match here but the reasonable call remains taking Swiatek to come through in straight sets.
