World number 66 Hugo Gaston impressed by coming back from a set down to beat Jenson Brooksby over two rainy days of play and the Frenchman faces a huge opportunity here against Dutch wildcard Tim van Rijthoven. However, 25-year-old Van Rijthoven is coming off by far the biggest result of his career with a three-set victory over an out-of-sorts of third seed Taylor Fritz. The Dutchman has claimed only his second and third tour-level victories this season and he will be backed to the hilt in this quarter-finals in a partisan atmosphere that Frenchman Gaston is used to encouraging, not facing. This could go anywhere at all, with Van Rijthoven’s confidence likely sky-high against a tricky player in Gaston who does not exactly intimidate on court.
