World number 13 Cam Norrie came through a proper thriller with Brazilian number one Thiago Monteiro on Thursday in straight sets. The 27-year-old has finished runner-up at two events already this season, to Richard Gasquet at the Auckland Open and Carlos Alcaraz at last week’s Argentina Open, and it is hard to see anything other than an immediate rematch for the pair in this weekend’s final given the wide-open draw. World number 111 Hugo Dellien has found some excellent form in recent weeks, reaching the semi-finals of the Cordoba Open earlier this month and now the quarter-finals in Rio after coming back from a set down to Alex Molcan on Wednesday. Norrie looks like he is finding his rhythm again on tour after a reasonably choppy start by his standards and he can be backed to win this first meeting with Dellien outright.
