THE PREDICTION
World number eight Hubert Hurkacz edged out Jiri Lehecka in an incredibly tight tussle on Tuesday, taking the first set before squeaking through the second of two tiebreaks that went to 11-9. The Pole will be pleased with his bounce back from last week’s semi-final defeat, as defending champion, in Marseille to home favourite Ugo Humbert but he will have to play the villain of the piece once again against Dutch number one Tallon Griekspoor in Rotterdam. World number 29 Griekspoor came back from a set down to oust Lorenzo Musetti on Monday, also via two tight tiebreaks, and this looks likely to be another behemoth of a match with all three previous meetings between the two going the distance last season. Hurkacz leads their head-to-head 2-1 after winning in five at Roland-Garros and more recently in Basel but Griekspoor won their clash in Halle in June at the peak of his powers. With all three of their matches seeing a deciding set and at least one tiebreak apiece, take a combination of those options to avoid a winner.
