THE PREDICTION

Former world number three Grigor Dimitrov beat Ben Shelton in three sets on Tuesday to navigate successfully past a difficult opener but it does not get any easier against up-and-comer Jiri Lehecka. World number 42 Lehecka beat the Bulgarian in three sets late last season at the Stockholm Open to level third head-to-head at 1-1 and he has certainly enjoyed the better season so far after reaching the quarter-finals of the Australian Open back in January. Form should largely be discounted with 31-year-old Dimitrov, who is capable of beating anyone on his days that have recently been coming ever more sparsely. 21-year-old Lehecka did well to beat lucky loser Emil Ruusuvuori in straight sets on Tuesday and taking the Czech to earn at least a set here looks the sensible way to avoid siding with anyone properly. Both previous meeting between these two players saw sets go both ways.
