Peyton Stearns vs Elina Svitolina prediction

Peyton Stearns has her eyes on a maiden WTA 1000 semi-final after a surge through the Rome draw that has catapulted her to the brink of the top 30. 

The American has taken down big-name compatriots Naomi Osaka and Madison Keys as well as Anna Kalinskaya as part of hugely impressive four-match win streak in the Italian capital. 

It doesn’t get any easier, however, with the current world number 42 set to battle Elina Svitolina in the last eight.

The Ukrainian’s fine season just keeps getting better and better and she made short work of Iga Siwatek’s conqueror Danielle Collins with a swashbuckling 6-4 6-2 success. 

Stearns will fear no-one given the names she has defeated so far, but Svitolina will be so hard to hit through and the 16th seed is the safer bet at this stage.
