World number 25 Grigor Dimitrov looked in great shape last week in Rotterdam, beating Hubert Hurkacz and Alex de Minaur in tight circumstances before a comprehensive defeat to eventual champion Daniil Medvedev. The 31-year-old received a bye toe the round of 16 as the fourth seed here in Marseille and he should be in strong enough form to comfortably see off Gijs Brouwer in this first meeting between the two, although nothing is ever easy when Dimitrov is concerned. 26-year-old Brouwer set a new career-high ATP world ranking of 116th this week after impressing en-route to the quarter-finals on home soil last week in Rotterdam but a comeback victory over Elias Ymer on Tuesday suggests Dimitrov is a level too great right now.
