FLAVIO COBOLLI VS ALEX DE MINAUR PREDICTION
Flavio Cobolli won his opening match with Alejandro Davidovich Fokina 7-6 6-3 and the 22-year-old will be keen to follow that up.
He now meets Alex de Minaur who he met at the Australian Open back in January. It was the Aussie who won that match emphatically 6-3 6-3 6-1 so Cobolli will have to change the narrative this time around if he is to reverse that.
Much has changed since then with De Minaur have a variety of injury problems while Cobolli has really kicked on since then.
De Minaur continues to manage his workload carefully amid various injury niggles. He had some time out after the US Open and returned to action last week in the European Open. He overcame Jan Lennard Struff in the first round in Vienna and did so coming back from a set down.
He desperately needs his body to hold up for a period of time and to work his way into some momentum but that is easier said than done.
Cobolli will view this as a good time to face De Minaur and it is. The Australian is far from his best understandably and that opens the door for Cobolli to push him all the way here. We find it hard to love De Minaur right now and we would approach this one with caution. We do however see this one being a close-fought match with three sets very likely.
