THE PREDICTION
World number 20 Cam Norrie received a bye to the round of 16 at the Argentina Open as the second seed this week but he is far from the level that saw him finish runner-up to Carlos Alcaraz this time last season. The 28-year-old looked to change tack at the Australian Open last month, though, with a refreshing brand of aggressive tennis that stunned Casper Ruud in four sets before an impressive five-set defeat, via a tiebreak no less, to Alexander Zverev in the round of 16. It remains to be seen what the Brit can do on clay but there is certainly some hope and momentum behind him for the first time in months, although this will be a tough start against home favourite Federico Coria. The Argentine stunned Tomas Martin Etcheverry in straight sets before a semi-final exit to Facundo Bagnis in Cordoba last week and a three-set victory over Sebastian Ofner on Tuesday was an excellent start to his Buenos Aires campaign. Norrie beat Coria comfortably at the US Open four years ago but this second meeting better-suits the clay specialist. Back Norrie to win at least a set to leave the victor up to chance as we wait to gauge the Brit’s level.
