This should be a fascinating rematch of the Australian Open final between champion Aryna Sabalenka and runner-up Elena Rybakina, who took the first set in Melbourne in a quality battle. World number two Sabalenka made short work of Maria Sakkari first-up on Friday to back-up a serving clinic against Coco Gauff in the quarter-finals and she has lost just once all season, to Barbora Krejcikova at the Dubai Masters last month. World number 10 Rybakina proved herself once again on Friday by beating the defending champion and world number one Iga Swiatek for the second time this season after also upsetting the Pole in Melbourne back in January. Rybakina is yet to drop a set this fortnight at Indian Wells and she has taken at least one in all four of her previous matches against Sabalenka despite eventually falling short in each of them. There is plenty to suggest that the 23-year-old can finally get a win on the board in this head-to-head but the valuable move looks to be taking this match to see three sets to leave the eventual champion up to chance.
