THE PREDICTION
Defending champion Matteo Berrettini looked in excellent shape on Tuesday to beat in-form Dan Evans in straight sets. The 26-year-old is riding a five-match winning streak after coming back from injury to claim the Stuttgart Open title last Sunday, where he overcame Andy Murray in three sets, maintaining a superb record on grass over the last three seasons. Only Novak Djokovic, Roger Federer and David Goffin have beaten the Italian on grass since the start of 2019 and lucky loser Denis Kudla looks set for a tough day here. The world number 82 recently beat Murray on his way to the Surbiton Challenger final and after replacing the Brit in the Queen’s draw he beat Lorenzo Sonego in three on Tuesday. Berrettini made it all the way to the final here without dropping a set last season and that looks fairly doable once again. The Italian has won each of their last two encounters in straight sets and he can be backed to do the same here.
