24-year-old Marie Bouzkova will set a new career-high WTA world ranking of around 37th after a straight-sets victory over fellow Czech Tereza Martincova on Tuesday. Bouzkova would be ranked a fair amount higher than her current 38th had she been rewarded ranking points at Wimbledon this summer, with her incredible run to the quarter-finals ended by eventual runner-up Ons Jabeur. She continued that form, however, straight into the Prague Open for a maiden WTA title made all the sweeter on home soil. 20-year-old Camila Osorio set a career-high WTA world ranking of 33rd earlier this year on the back of an excellent breakthrough season last year largely on her favoured clay. However, the Colombian stunned 15th-seed Ekaterina Alexandrova in straight sets on Monday for a career-best result on a hardcourt to make this first meeting with Bouzkova very interesting indeed. The Czech should be able to find a way through here but taking her to win at least a set as the likelier victor would be a suitably cautious move for an accumulator.
